Do you or someone you know have sallow skin, absence of color and rosiness leaving a yellow hue, or pigmentation loss?

Our specialized products can brighten sallow skin, and fill in the loss of pigment that is mostly found on areas such as your face, neck, and body.

Use:

The Everything Pencil covers, and conceals small areas on the face, neck, and body where pigment is lighter or non existent then your normal skin color.

Orange Masking Cream covers extremely dark eye circles, age spots and fills in pigmentation loss.

Killer Cover™ for the most difficult to cover skin discolorations such as tattoos, port wine stains and vitaligo. It is a heavier and more pigmentated formula to be used on larger areas where pigmentation loss exists.

Below is a brief study on dull sallow skin and pigmentation loss for your review.

What causes sallow skin and pigmentation loss?

Sallow skin and pigmentation loss are caused from aging, sun exposure, stress, smoking, exhaustion, medications, hormonal changes, pregnancy, bad diet, and heredity. Brightening sallow skin and covering up pigmentation loss requires different types of concealing products.

Human Pigmentation

In humans the degree of darkness of the skin, hair, and iris of the eye depends primarily on the amount of melanin present. The presence of hemoglobin and carotene in the blood contributes to skin color. Moles and freckles are caused by high local concentrations of melanin; albinism by a lack of melanin; and some birthmarks, e.g., “strawberry marks,” by an unusual local proliferation of blood vessels (and hence of hemoglobin) near the skin surface. Tanning of human skin results from an increase of melanin production under the stimulation of ultraviolet light.

Sallow Skin And Pigmentation Loss Are Generally Inherited But Can Be Controlled

As we age, our skin loses moisture causing the skin to become dry and wrinkled. There are many factors that lead to sallow skin (absence of rosiness or glow) and pigmentation loss. Scientists are still studying the reasons why skin pigmentation disorders occur. In some cases there are tangible causes, such as sun exposure, drug reactions or genetic inheritance.

Definition of Pigmentation:

Pigmentation: The coloring of the skin, hair, mucous membranes, and retina of the eye.

Pigmentation is due to the deposition of melanin which is a coloring matter. The melanin is produced by specialized cells called melanocytes.

Other pigmented terms include hyperpigmentation (too much pigment), hypopigmentation and underpigmentation (too little pigment), and depigmentation (loss of pigment).

Skin Pigmentation Disorders

Albinism:

Albinism, an inherited disorder, is caused by the absence of the pigment melanin and results in no pigmentation in skin, hair, or eyes. In albinos, their body has an abnormal gene, which restricts the body from producing melanin. There is no cure for albinism, and individuals should use a sunscreen at all times because they are much more likely to get sun damage and skin cancer. Skin pigmentation disorders such as albinism can occur in any race, but is most common in Caucasians.

Melasma:

Melasma is characterized by tan or brown patches on the cheeks, nose, foreheard, and chin. Although this condition is typically termed the "pregnancy mask," men can also develop this condition. Melasma frequently goes away after pregnancy but can be treated with certain prescription creams and some over the counter skin care products. Remember to consult your physician or dermatologist for a proper diagnosis of melasma before you choose to treat it yourself. If you have melasma, use a sunscreen at all times because sunlight will worsen your condition.

Pigmentation Loss As a Result of Skin Damage:

If you've had a skin infection, blisters, burns or other trauma to your skin, you may have a loss of pigmentation in the affected area. The good news with this type of pigmentation loss is that it's frequently not permanent, and concealer cosmetics can be used to cover the area.

Vitiligo:

Vitiligo has several possible causes including physical trauma or diseases such as diabetes, pernicious anemia, thyroid disease, or Addison's disease. Vitiligo causes smooth, white skin patches. In some people, these patches can appear all over the body. There is no cure for vitiligo, but there are several treatments, including dyes or psoralens (light-sensitive drugs) used in combination with ultraviolet A light treatment.

There are many formulations of concealers on the market today that will cover up and brighten all different types sallow skin, absence of color and rosiness leaving a yellow hue, or pigmentation loss. We offer cosmetic solutions…make-up does matter! The right consistency concealer, the right color, the right technique, will create the right results.
